went with the new heater control valve and the bottom blew out after a few months. I wouldn't think there would be much pressure on this. wish I kept the steal one as back up. Seems like the phenolic ones have taken over!?:?

Who'd you get the plastic one from m_m? Did you install it right away, or was it sitting for a time? Does your Bronco run hot or "strangely hot" (whatever that might mean ?:?)?

Not that running normally hot would be likely to do that either, but I was curious. First time I've come across one that literally popped apart. Seen them wear out once or twice, but even that's not common yet since they're not on a lot of high-mileage EB's yet I wouldn't think.

Let me know if it was one of ours.

Hey Paul,
I got it from you guys around a year ago I guess. The bottom underneath the actuating arm popped off. I will try to get a picture of it up when I get home. It looks like its glued on to the base. I didn't think that there was much pressure in that area but I guess the whole system is pressurized.
I'll just find a new steel/brass one and glue the old one back together with some hi temp water tight glue and keep it for a spare.

Very odd. I hope anyway...:-[
Yeah, not much pressure normally in one of our systems, and the main radiator caps usually blow-off at 13 or 14 psi if I remember.

I'll go out and check a couple of them just for giggles.
Anyone else ever have this issue?

Thanks Mike

thanks broncobilly. good to know and I will call them!
see pics below
Paul, I didn't post this as a bash to WH. In fact I purposely left out where I purchased it as these things happen. I have had nothing but quality parts and service from you guys and wouldn't hesitate ordering another one of these from WH if I can't find a steel one. Personally I think it's a fluke.

Yeah, I agree. I bought one of those from TBP 2 or 3 years ago, and here in the PNW it gets exercised a lot, no issues yet; although I have heard one other member complain that his lasted ~1 month before it started leaking.

No bashing implied or taken at all. Just jumped in because I saw you were from our area and thought the chance you got it from us was greater because of it.

And, uh, well, that's just the "special super-duper safety overpressure pop-off valve" we have custom installed on them right at the factory. ;D;)%)
Designed only to blow out at super high nuclear reactor temperatures and pressures. I mean, you know how we feel about nuclear safety here, right?
It's for your and the general public's protection doncha know...

A little sub-atomic particle glue and sealant from JB should do the trick.
The cheap Chinese stuff originally used was probably spec'ed out for sub-nuclear EB conditions I'm sure.

Thanks

Paul
