Has anyone used a rheostat to operate the heater blower? Instead of OFF, LOW, HIGH.
i am trying to eliminate the additional noise the "new improved" fan that I installed by adjusting the fan speed.
If you have, where did you get it, or what is is called?
thanks

I guess that what I have I my BRONCO ... & IT still makes a ton of noise on high . & I heard mine over my DIESEL ..
.. SEEMS like the switch number is something like HS7 . It clicks to off & you roll it around through the resiostant down to slow . It's not as noisy on a lower position .
... & The old switch I used to sell had a light in the center of the knob that only comes on when power is on .

You can't just run a variable resistor. There is too much waste heat. One of the reasons the resistor for low speed is located in the heater duct is so the airflow can keep it cool.

If you want a full variable speed blower a PWM controller is probably the best choice. You use a potentiometer to control a PWM speed controller. I have used some PWM LED controllers that you can get cheap and the reviews say they work good on motors as well. I found the pot a poor match for the output but wince you will need to be reworking it anyway it would be easy enough to fix by swapping the linear pot to exponential (or the other way around).

Maybe just go with the original "unimproved blower motor". The original is plenty to heat an EB in sub zero weather. I never understood where the perceived need to run one from a Chevy came from.

OK HS12V. I believe is the number of the one I used to sale . RESISTOR ... or RHEOSTAT. I found a picture on the web & it's the same style I used to sale .
