He guys, I need some help deciding this VIN tag on ‘72 Bronco. The glove box door has an Explorer badge on it.

What is Body Type "84"?
What color is Color Code "X"?
The U152 indicates the GVW should be 4,700# HD Package, any ideas why this is rated at 4,900# ?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks! I've never seen Goldenrod Explorer. I thought they were only available in Blue or Ginger.

No, this is a very common misconception. They were available in numerous colors, with different color options for every year the package was offered. These included Viking Red, Burnt Orange, Copper, and several variations of blue. There were also some special order colors I’ve seen over the years.

This is what yours would have looked like originally. This color is also referred to as Durango Tan, and that is what it’s more commonly known as. This was a common color option for the ‘72 Explorer/Sport, which by the way is the only year those two packages were combined.
