Started a restore on a 76 today. Getting ready to pull the 302 to get it overhauled. It has a Edelbrock Torker II manifold and a Holley 4011 650cfm carb on it. (R8014-3). I am by no means a carb guy. I grew up in the "plug it in and check the code" era. So tell me, are these anygood ? I would love to hear opinions...

Not the best manifold choice for a bronco. You would be better off with either a performer or RPM manifold. As for the carb well it will work but smaller carbs tend to be a little better IMO. I been pretty happy with 600 cfm holleys. the 650 isnt much different and its really only the secondary side that is bigger so it will still work fine.

I ran a torker manifold on my bronco for years though it was pretty good it really picked up on the top end but when I went to a dual plane I did notice a good improvement in the low and midrange.

I read were it mostly helped in the upper RPM's so I was sorta thinking the same thing. My only worry is having a manifold that is short enough to get the hood closed with a airfilter on. P.O. did a lot of southern engineering on my hood to get the aircleaner to clear. Not sure what I am gonna do on the carb yet.

The performer manifold with holley carb will fit under a stock hood. the RPM manifold is probably about the same height as the torquer and doesnt fit easily under a stock hood. You can run that carb it will work I've never used a 4011 carb so I dont know how good they are offroad.

my understanding is you will also need and adapter plate to get a good seal under the carb.

Hey thanks for all the help guys. There is right now, about a 1/2 inch of what I would call a spacer between the carb and the torker II. That might be an adapter. Just looking at it, I figured it was a spacer. I haven't torn into the motor yet. Cleaning the body up right now. Just curious, any other particular manifolds you guys recommend besides edelbrock. I will look into the performer and from what it sounds like is most likely my best bet. This is more of a daily driver with a little offroad use vehicle. Won't be turning it upside down or anything. Thats what my rock buggy is for.

Shouldnt need a adapter plate if you swap manifolds even with the torquer manifold a adapter plate is not needed. Weiands street warrior manifold is about the same as a Edelbrock performer. I usually see used manifolds for less than $100 on craigslist. Might even try ebay.
