Anybody know where I can get two? I've tried all the usual vendors and no luck (got one from Bronco Hut, but apparently Ford made 3 different types, so I'd like to find a matching set in good paintable condition). I posted an ad in the wanted section a month ago with 0 responses. I'm desperate, body is going to paint early next week...

Thanks

Long shot but, the older Ford Tractors used a gas cap that was paintable and some would fit...I know because I ran one on the aux. tank back in the '80's...Don't remember size the tractor, but was a gas buner and maybe from the '60's

I know where one long reach cap is here in my area that could be let go. I wonder what shipping would cost.

What's the diff between long reach and short reach?

Those two opposed fingers that thread into the filler tube thread either have a short reach or a long reach ~1/4" longer. I have one of each on my Bronco.

Thanks! So if I understand this correctly, one will stick out further than the other? Is that all? If so, I'd prefer the shorter reach.

Do you have a picture of what the originals look like?

You need to have the correct filler necks to match up with the type of cap.

If you try to put a short reach cap on a long reach filler neck, the tabs won't reach the mounting point and you won't even be able to turn it to put any tension on the cap to keep it on.

If you put a long reach cap on a short reach neck, there is no way to put any tension on the cap to have it stay on since the mounting tabs are so far inside the neck and nowhere close to the tension tabs on the neck itself.

The filler necks and caps are a matched set.

Thanks! I've got one short and I'm replacing the filler necks...so I guess I need 1 more short.

They match the filler tube thread. Both are flush to the body. Here are my miss-matched set; one is short, one is long.

If your caps are the same chrome caps as BronCowie you can do what I did to mine. I painted mine body color. Sand the chrome real good with 320 and a red scuff pad, followed by a true etch primer. I used Dupont Variprime, sealer, paint, clear. I also did my "Bronco" fender emblems in black to match the flares the same way.
