Sounds good. I will replace the oil filter and re-seal the oil pressure extension tonight or tomorrow. I will keep everyone informed of the results.

Thanks

It should be fine but you can always make a new stronger one with brass nipple and coupler from your local home depot. I just picked up the pieces yesterday for mine since the explorer engine didnt have one and I needed to extend it out for an aftermarket sender.

I have at least 2 in the shed.
My previous owner used all pipe and pipe fittings
the nice part was he used a 90 bend to point the sender to the aft of the motor

Tito
did the exploder have the oil sensor in the oil pan (think fox body)
if so I have the stuff in my gerage and you are welcome to them

Mustangs had the low oil sensor in the pan. I have an explorer pan and it has a casting for the sensor but it's not drilled. It may depend on the year or maybe option package of the explorer. The EEC computer doesn't look at the sensor, it goes to a separate fluid level monitor.

Ok I am about ready to trash the entire engine! I pulled the old filter and replaced it with a new one. While the filter was out I tried to remove the oil pressure extension. However, it was stuck on the block side. I don't think the leak is from the extension. Which only leaves the fuel filter. But I still cannot locate the leak. Will replacing the fule pump be the answer?

mabie a retarded oil filter gasket , i had one that had a manufacturers flaw on it , caused it to leak at high oil pressure , oil filters are cheap , just replace it ., and see what happens ....

I already replaced the oil filter. However, I think everyone is right regarding the weep hole in the fuel pump. Off to the autoparts store again.

there is a dye you can put in your oil that reacts to uv light (black light?). So after putting it in and running the engine a bit, you can hit the engine with the light and see where it's coming from.

When mine was leaking all over the diff, track bar and drivers side, it was the extension. I went to HD too and bought pieces so I could add the oil pressure switch for the elect. fuel pump. I was in the same boat as you - couldn't figure it out.

good call on the oil dye. I was just researching it yesterday. I will go that route before I replace my fuel pump

Ok so I just replaced my old fuel pump with a new Carter pump. I placed the old pump "weep hole" down on my work bench. Instantly, oil and fuel began to spill out and formed a puddle. I now know this was the culprit!

However, once I turned my key, the engine started right up, then instantly died. I was amazed to find a ton of fuel on top of my intake manifold. I double checked all my lines and everything was secure. The fuel filter, on the carb, seemed loose, so I re-tightened it. Now my engine won't start. Is this because there is absolutely no fuel in my lines running from the pump to carb? What can I do to "prime the carb" to get the engine running enough for the eccentric to operate the mechanical fuel pump?

Thanks!

Priming is not necessary. As the float valve opens the fuel should flow. You might have dislodged a piece of debris that has the float needle valve plugged. Pull the line off at the carb and attach a line long enough to put it in a jar and turn it over. You should have fuel flow. If not you have a problem with your pump or something else upstream. Be careful and keep a good fire extinguisher handy.

Thank goodness! The leaks, as of right now, have stopped and the engine started right up once I let it sit overnight. Probably a flooded carb. The fuel pump weep hole was the problem. Thank you everyone for your assistance!

Best of luck Krowens! The leaks can be a pain, but stay persistant and you will stop all the unwanted leaks. Please let me know if there is any info I can offer.

No one else seemed to say anything about the DIST. gasket If you pull out the dist and twisting it around there is a little circle gasket under it that will fall off and get lost ..Mine was leaking here and oil runs about the same place as you described..

Update:

Installed a new fuel pump this weekend. As soon as I took the old fuel pump off and turned it on it's side, oil started pouring out of the weep hole. I am finally leak free. I was told that I should change my oil b/c if oil was leaking (spraying) out, then gas was leaking in. Time for some fresh oil.
Thanks guys!

Look at your intake manifold too, front and back. A week ago I had oil all over the tranny, and everywhere else under the damn thing.
