Hey all i had the wild horses heavy duty output shaft assembly installed by my transmission guy. Ive gotten everything back into the truck and have a freshly restored gauge cluster and new speedometer cable. Took it for a drive and i have no speedometer reading. I took the cable off of the housing and spun it with my hand and the gauge reads. I slid the cable into the gear housing and spun the inner cable and the gear appeared to turn. But wen i thread the cable onto the housing and go for a drive no speedo. Is there any special instructions on installing the speedometer cable to he gear into the output shaft?? I have 4.56 gears and 35" tires so i got the 34T speedo gear.

You have to make sure the "square" pin lines up perfectly when you tighten down the cable on the tcase side. If it is off at all it will retract into the cable housing and not show a reading..... try re-stabing it a couple of times.

It happened to me....took about 5 times to finally get it to read

The speedo gear plug needs to be clocked correctly. This one has a 31T gear so your's should be turned 90 degrees CCW from this.

You might need to pull the plug out to get it turned. This is what it looks like.
