I have a 1970 bronco with a stock suspension on it. It is cut and currently has 31x10.50x 15" tires on 15" x 7" rims. I have a brand new set of slots I want to put on it they are 15" x 8" with 4" back spacing. I want a little more tire so I want to go with a 33" tire. I just cant decide on 10.5" wide or 12.5". The front fenders are not cut but do have a little trimming done by the previous owner. I was going to put a 2.5" lift on the truck but now I am leaning toward trying to stay with no lift. Any input? Will the 33x 10.50 tires clear ok with no lift? Funny the 10.50 wide 33 is more money than the 12.5". I know the 33x 12.50 really fits good with a 2.5" lift as I have had broncos with that combo before.

I am trying to stay low and retro with this bronco, and the truck ride really good as it is. Also my budget is really tight. So I f I don't need to drop a grand on a lift that will give me the coin for a new exhaust and clutch.

Check out my garage. I have 33x12.5 tires on 10" wheels with 3.75 inch backspacing and the front knuckle clearances are really tight. I have no lift, but recently added 1" WH BL. I also debated a 2.5" lift, but after the 1" BL I think it looks perfect. The "suspension" and "interior" pics are pre-BL. The other photos are after BL.

A 12.50 tire will fit on an 8" rim, some like it for extra rim protection and claim it helps with bead retention. And for a trail rig I will accept them.

But if you spend a lot of time on the street the 10.50 tire is a better match for the 8" rim. Allows the tire to ride more square to the ground, the tread isn't bowed and riding primarly on the center crown like a 12.50 would.

Since you don't want to trim, care about the style of wheel, I am guessing this is not a hard core off-road rig. I would be pointing you toward the 10.50 wide tires.

Sorry I forgot to say this is a street cruiser. I have my 67 for any wheeling.

yeti thanks for the info! your bronco looks great.

Broncobowsher I agree that if she was off road I would have to lift and would just run the 12.5" wide tire.

I am leaning toward the 33x 10.50 x 15 tires and no lift. If it rubs or looks funny I can add the 1" body lift. Or I think someone was offering a 1.5" front lift springs. that woud do it too.

I have 15X8 rims with a 4" backspace and 33-1050 tires.
Mines cut but they should fit on yours. Since mines a "77, with longer knuckles, I had to use 1.5" wheel spacers. You won' have that issue with a '70.

Blubuckaroo Nice truck!

That looks good same wheel and tires I will have.

I am going with the 33x 10.50 x 15" BFG All terrain.
I ordered the tires they will get mounted up on Thursday. Then I will swap them onto the truck. Cant believe the cost of tires these days WOW!

Yes, but you're going to enjoy those TAs long after they're paid for.
Hey, our Broncos will be twins!

Split the difference and go with 32 x 11.50 s . Father had those on his stock broncos and always thought they look awesome.

Easy to load pictures if you have contributor status. I need to get mine renewed now that I mention it.

Looks great! My 72 which is cut front and rear has 31x10.50's. They just don't fill out the wheel wells as nicely as your 33's do! Love the wheels too.

Thanks I am happy with it. It had 31x 10.50s on it and I felt the same way. It doesn't rub anywhere but If was going to use it offroad I would need to put a little lift on it. Once I get some other things wrapped up I will do another thread with before and after pics.
