I guess we should have warned you about the heat...

I think I'll trade 2 months of 100+ for 5 months of 25 degrees.

Speaking of hot though - my new house has a sprinkler system - this is all greek to me. How much and how often should I be watering my lawn?

The system is a 6 zone Hunter sprinkler system. I can program it to water multiple times a day or not at all. Times and amount are all variable as well.

Any Oklahoma guys got any advise? Im pretty sure my grass is bermuda and we dont have a large lot, 0.25 acre.

Currently I'm watering every day at 4am. The sprayers get 10 minutes for the flower beds and such and the lawn rotors get 15 minutes.

More/less? Every other day, twice a day? Earlier in the morning, later in the morning? Or should I just turn it all off and let the sucker burn???

4am is a good time to water. I'd say 5-10 minutes three times a week should be sufficient.

No kidding...serious case of sack-stuck-to-leg syndrome.

Getting settled though. TV tomorrow and movers are coming this weekend. So we are on our way! Still gotta sell the house in buffalo though, anyone want a 1935 cape cod?

No but thank you, LOL

Good luck selling it!

We water our front every day, 5 days a week. but 3 should be good.

Even if you don't water your grass your bermuda will still come back next year...that stuff never really dies! But I water my grass about every other day and flowers almost everyday.

Really depends on the soil. Where I lived in Tulsa there was a lot of sand in the soil and it would not retain the water at all, so I had to water more frequently. With good soil, I would think you could get away with watering once every 3 days with a good soaking (at least 1/2 inch or equivalent..set up some cups to measure the water coverage). If you are on a slope you'll need to cut the station times in half and have it cycle thru twice to allow the water to sink in and not just run off to your neighbor or down the gutter. Bermuda will always come back if you don't end up giving it enough water, so it's always a balance between how green you want your yard and how big of a water bill you are willing to pay (I am guessing you are on city water and not a well). Go to the internet and read up on what fertilizer and weed control stuff you need as having a healthly lawn will help create the look you want.

Good luck.
