Does anyone have a good owners manual of this winch. My manuals are half chewed up in the most important places in the diagrams :(
Im not even sure of the #rating on this part# 333101

The guy i bought my bronco from said this winch worked at one time. But now all I get is a click of the switch so it sounds like its still getting power. I dont offroad much but, would sure like the peice of mind this winter when I plow through 5 foot snow berms hehe.

BTW this economy blows I hate feeling like Im on a college budget again :) Otherwise I would just replace it.

thanks

Jeez, I about forgot about those things , pretty popular back in the 70's . I don't think Hickey is still around but you might take the thing to an electric motor service shop and have them check it out ,could just be a loose connection or a bad solenoid , bad brushes in the motor . Good luck !!

The solenoids were the weak link in them-that's probably what's wrong with it. I'll bet a good electrical shop could fix it for you.

Todd Z.

Sidewinder Winches were very good and I agree the solonoids were a problem source. While your into it make sure it has oil in the case. My friend had one that we never could get sealed up. Unbeatable pulling from any direction; ;) but always leaked. :-U

I'm not familiar with this winch but if the solinoids are external and no longer available could you use a Ford stater solinoid? Just a thought.

Using a Ford starter noid is effective but they were never meant to be used for continuous duty like a winch noid . However , it would help you to trouble shoot the noid problem ...if you happen to have a spare noid laying around . :)
