out here in cali when the cops bust street racers, they check engine and transmission #'s. they're often stolen.

when buying a new engine or trans what documentation should you get from a builder, shop or individual to protect yourself?

Finally!!! I got the title on this thing straightened out! What a long drawn out ordeal. I Gotta say that Marti Auto Works saved my butt. The High patrol based everything off their report.
On a funny note: The Sr. Trooper was a Ford guy. The chewed out one of the jr’s for calling the bronco a Jeep. :D

I had the same problem here in GA. They would not issue tags because the insurance vin no. didn't match what the state had listed. Insurance comp had made a typo. Took the truck to the local police station and had them verify the vin's matched the title and they gave me a form to get a tag and have the insurance comp change their records.
It was a hassle to go wait at the police station for someone to come look the truck over but that was really the only problem.
