I think it’s been pretty low on most people’s lists, which would explain it not coming up often in the vendor’s catalogs.
But I’ve always felt it was beneficial enough to do. Just because it didn’t come from the factory on a bronco doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea.
After all, it came either stock or as an option on practically every other vehicle out there.
If it reduces a little noise, protects the paint longer from excessive heat, or even keeps the area over the cowl cooler by a little bit (likely keeping the interior cooler most likely) it sounds to me like it’s all good.
There was one aftermarket company that had it in their brochure. They used to show up at car shows and they make different products for different people for different areas of vehicles.
Can’t member the name of the company at the moment but they seemed to offer one that had a nice finish to it. Same thing you’d find under a muscle car hood with a logo on it.
