I don't have a hood prop .., I have a fiberglass hood I was looking a the various kits offered. My hood does not have any built end supports so kits that bolt to the hood is not an option. BC Boncos offer a kit that uses a epoxy for the support rails. Anyone have experience with these. Are they worth the it ?

I may just fab a prop rod up ..

I bought a kit for a FG hood I can't remember whose it was but it wasn't BC bronco's.
The epoxy held good and wasn't an issue but the supports were made with flat bar and you could see the hood arching/bending where the shocks were mounted.
If the supports were made with angle instead of flat bar it would have been a lot sturdier.
I didn't like it and went back to the prop rod.
Maybe I'll revisit it someday and tack some small angle to it.

Thanks ... I came up with it ... 3/8 steel rod 90 bent on the end tacked some washers to keep it in its place Bent a retaining tab ... And cut a piece of aluminum with a hole for the rod and mounted it to the hood pin bushings ..

Hey,

I received JBG's kit as a Christmas gift from my wife. I have hood vents on the side of the hood. Not sure I'll even attempt to use the shock setup... it will look kind of jacked-up running right under one side of the vents... and I'm not sure it will have enough strength if I notch the brackets.

Back yard engineering is always a good resource.

What wrong with a 2X4, BroomHandle, Stick, etc?????? That is about the equivalent of what I have used for the last 3-4 years. Haven't had one fail yet on me!

Having said that, I do have a kit in a box waiting to be installed with the shocks. Maybe I will so that today. Hmmmmmm!

As for backyard engineering, it rules!!!! ;D
