When you can buy the same product on Amazon and at McMasters... for 30% savings.

I'm going to try looking for the same brand more often and compare- like Thomas and Bett's zip ties. When you aren't familiar with the brand name of choice it makes it a TON more time consuming.

Thomas and Bett's(that's what we use in aerospace) or Panduit for zip-ties. Also invest in a zip tie gun. They will put the correct tension on the zip tie, so when it cuts it, it will be perfectly flush.

Exactly - we use T&B ty-raps on all the gazillion dollar satellite payloads I've worked on over my career (although they've never been black), nearly all the race cars I've worked on and on my Bronco as well. I've converted many to the faith over the years :). I have many flush-cut cutters in my toolbox.

The trouble is getting ones labeled what you want but are actually fakes. That was the issue I had with getting VHB tape. Looked correct. Was double stick tape. But wasn't real VHB tape. The Amazon stuff was low grade counterfeit materials. Any of the brand name high end stuff gets faked as well. Hard time finding real NGK spark plugs these days. Amazon absolutely does not care that they sell counterfeit products. If I need the real deal, McMaster it is. When anything close will do for cheap, Amazon.

Ever buy brake pads that have a core charge? Ever wonder what happens to those cores? Those carbon fiber brakes pads sure come in a nice box.
