My lady friend jumped in on this one

I was too cheap to buy a bikini top so I decided to try to replicate a wing that is simular to the Big Oly bronco and the early Baja Bronco's from back in the day. I believe these were built by Stroope? My dad had a 6x12 sheet of .90 alum that he purchased with some scratches for 100 bucks. It was kind of in his way so I thought I could give it a good home. This is my first time posting photos. I have read the instructions on this site on how to attach photos. But I am not sure about the size?

Here I made a two inch strip to get the cross section I wanted.

Here is the sheet sitting up on the bronco. I had some help with the front edge in a press brake. Never used one before. The rest was all done with a shear and 8' brake

This is the structure that will mount the wing to the top of the windshield frame and bottom front edge of the wing will rivet to.

Here it is mocked up with .40 side plates trying to find the shape I liked

I made the side plates a little smaller then shown here

I think your wing looks great.....It looks way better than the wing I had attempted to build......While they sre very close in shape/design ...I did not care for the smell of stale Olympia beer.....We tried to make it as orginal....as possible....

I was baking bread and pies before I installed it that is for sure. Added the wing in August and it was upper 90's here in Omaha. After it was installed it was whole diffent rig. Super cool inside. No more baking in sun. I then realized while Stroppe originally constructed them. For the shade! The visor portion is nice too. Makes it hard to see the stop lights if I am first at the intersection. I have learned to make it work. It is easy at night I just look for the lights in the reflection in the hood.

Demon,
Yes it is getting cold! Drove it today not to bad. Took it to work at a couple weeks ago at 32 degrees from Papillion to Council Bluffs. Cold down the highway!!! Today may have been the last day. Going to finish the cage and have it powder coated for the spring.

no soft top? my manual '71 which is my DD when i am in omaha is running a full soft top and i just got the hard doors on it, however i can't get the hinges lined up right so they lift off like they are supposed to.

my '69 is running a full hard top and the automatic '71 has a bikini with a wind break behind the driver and passenger seat, but it's staying inside unless it needs to be moved for fixes/changes.

hard doors with the soft top isn't too bad. the heater core in that one isn't amazing but it's not uncomfortable without a coat, it'll get better once i get some weather stripping on the doors.

Sounds like you have your bases covered. I do not have a soft top. May get one in the future. I do have the original doors and top. Need to take her out of service for the winter have more stuff to make for it.
