With new inverted flare fittings and seats, it is often necessary to “set” the connection by crushing the flare. That might require “over-torquing” initially…then relaxing the connection and re-tightening to the correct spec.
Drives me crazy when lines are either under-crimped, (and loosen and leak.) or when over-tightened and left that way. (And then rounded off when serviced later)
Do what nickgp says. tighten, loosen, and then tighten correctly. This is not necessary for tapered thread, or o-ring, or compression. Just new flared connections.
