Do you guys think it would be safe to use a spacer to move the block closer to the cowl on my hood. That would probably get me the space I need.
I could make it a solid wedge spacer to keep the stress even across the plate.

I'm thinking as long as the linkage is not in a bind it should work fine.

What is that block that's causing your problem for? I've never seen one with that before. Could you just remove it and use a line with a banjo fitting on the end?

Look at pics in the #1 post and #5 post. Apparently the 99-04 mustangs used this type of hb unit. If the low pressure return port were threaded I'd just remove the block.

I bought a tap and die kit today from harbor freight. I might just try to mount it on the firewall. If I go that route I'll have to thread the linkage like I've seen in other hb set ups.

There are some really good write ups on here about hb installation. I'd like to find one using the same hb as I am.
1" body lift could be in my future.

I read that article at least twice now. Great information. I was hoping to see one just like mine used with bracket. The one I have came with the bronco when I bought it. I can understand why I haven't seen any one using the same type.
That block is a pia.

One way or another I will finish it this weekend.

Since I'm using the old vac booster bracket I need to figure out the best way to go for the linkage under the hood.
Do you guys see anything wrong with the way I'm thinking of doing this?
I plan to tack weld a flanged nut to reduce the size of the opening on the linkage. It will reduce it to the point that I can use the pin from the old vac booster set up.

Bad idea?

With the hydroboost mounted at an angle it will put a lot of sideways torque on the link to the pedal.
I would use something like a heim joint to at least reduce the twist.

I used the factory brake linkage and firewall angle bracket..I cut the round end off the original hydroboost rod and threaded it to take a heim joint.

Lincoln hydroboost unit...mid/late 70s.

Can you post a pic of your linkage?
I want to make this as safe as possible.

Thanks.

Took the advice to use the heim joint. I bought a 3/8 24. It looks like it will work. The only problem I ran into was trying to thread the rod on the booster with a harbor freight tap and die set. That set is horrible! I should have known.
I will get a quality die tomorrow.

Thanks for all the help guys. Finished the install yesterday. I can actually lock up the brakes.
I might add a cooler to it.

Do that!
Well known power steering expert Tom Lee says not to allow power steering fluid to get over 180 degrees F, and according to Chuck (BC Broncos) he talked to a GM engineer who said max temp of 178 degrees F.

I do have this to install. I wanted to try my hydroboost with my Saginaw box first since it was already installed. After I install the high volume pump I'll be able to answer the "is it worth it" questions.
