I rotated my hydroboost 90° and I am going to make a 3/8" adaptor plate for the MC. What do I do about the push rod between the hydroboost and the MC?

I have a 351 and efi and so it would be difficult to hook up the high pressure to the box and the return line up. This way it is going to be a good setup for the lines. Can I just make it out of cold roll or is it somthing special?

I made an adapter out of 3/16"s and if folded like a soft taco first push with the hydroboost. I actually had to cut down the stock rod to make that fit. Now I have a 1/2" adapter plate and need to make my rod 5/16"s longer, I'm looking for a ball bearing to slide in between the master cylinder and the hydroboost rod. Hopefully that will solve my issues... I've heard of using just about anything from a loose bolt to washers to take up slack in the system, so use your imagination. Good luck

I made my adapter out of 1/2" aluminum plate. Worked great. I cut down the original MC rod to the correct length.

I will be using 3/8" steel plate so I think the strength will be ok.

why play around??
If you have an automatic do the pedal shift mod and bolt it straight to the firewall.
The shift moves the entire hydroboost/MC toward the fender about 6 inches, drop me a note if you want pictures

I rotated mine 90 degrees and made an adapter out of ~ 1/4" steel--It lasted a couple of years until it warped on a trail when my bronco got kinda warm. I didn't even notice until I got home. These hydroboosts get extremely hot even during daily driving. Instead of making a thicker adapter, I did just as TOFIC stated and moved it over to my clutch pedal position since I have an auto. Moving it over to the clutch position was alot easier than making an adapter IMO. It provides alot more room too--especially on the 351W. If you are still set on making an adapter or have a stick shift, I would make it a minimum of 1/2". I made a new internal pushrod out of a grade 8 bolt.

I just tried mine without any thing between the hydroboost rod, and the master cylinder (there's about 1/4" clearence), I have a 1/2" adapter plate. My pedal does travel a bit farther before the brakes actuate but it seems to work fine. I can push the pedal to the floor, but the brakes lock up long before that happens. I'm still on the hunt for a 5/16"s or 1/4" ball bearing to put in between, but it seems to work this way also.

I seen the pics, but this is just too easy. I have the hydroboost already mounted, it took about 20 minutes and I don't have an additional 2" hole in my fire wall. I have the 3/8" plate and access to a drill press so it seems much simpler than moving it over. I think I will just cut down the push rod from my existing MC.
