Im changing out the ring and pinion on the Dana 44 in my 76 to a lower gear. And I didn't mark the caps that hold the carrier. Now looking at them it seems they are beveled on one side. But everywhere I have read says I need to mark them. What do I do now?? Will I know once I put it back together if they are on the right side?? Will they not tighten up?? Help

There are markings to tell you. If you look at the gasket surface you'll see a stamp on both sides next to the caps. The caps will also be marked with the same stamp in the same orientation. The same letter may be stamped on both sides but it will be sideways on one. That matches the stamp on the cap next to it. You can see the letter Q stamped in the pic below. It's upside down on the left and sideways on the right. Caps are the same.

Normally I wouldn't let out this inner circle secret but you've been around long enough to be let inside.

How many posts does it take nowadays to qualify for the inner circle?

Letting out the secrets again??? What the heck are we going to do with you?
My Mark's were real faint, so I went ahead and put two dots on one, one dot on the other, and marked them for orientation. Take a lot of pictures, get a friend that's done it several times to help if you can

it's not really an inner circle. More like a square. And you know how hard it is to try to fit a square in a lot of places...
