I recently bought a console that was ready to put a cd player in. now im going to have this hole in my dash. ive had two ideas on the subject so far. Fabricate some sheet metal and make a little cubby hole for phone and etc. Other idea was to see if there was a slide out cup holder that would fit that hole. I got the idea from my dads king ranch pickup, but didnt know if anyone else had put a slide out cup holder from another vehicle in their dash? Any ideas?? im open to anything that deletes the hole.

I've done several "radio delete" plates - 2 in diamond plate, one in smooth aluminum plate and one covered in vinyl. But mine were covering the factory holes so that I could reinstall the stock radio if/when I wanted to. Sounds like you are covering a dash already cut for a single din aftermarket radio? If so the cup holder idea would be good. Later full size Broncos have swing out cup holders for the rear passengers that might work for you.

In my trail rig I used the plate as a switch panel.

If your dash is not cut already I would not cut it just for a cup holder or a cubby, just cover it.

I've seen a thread in the past where this topic was discussed, maybe worth a look. I'll see if I can find it.

I really like the cup-holder idea, cubby hole is an easy 2nd.

edit: the dash on my bronco has a big 'ol nasty cut out from an aftermarket radio install. The radio is long gone and what's left is a huge eye-sore. :-[

My son and I used the cubby from an 87-93 mustang. It fit perfect and holds my phone. We put the USB port right next to it.

I put these switches in. Fits nearly perfect, had to dremel the mount a little. Search "Carling Switch" and "Carling Switch Mount" on ebay.

I took out the dash, welded a plate in and body worked the rest. Sand, prime, paint! Viola!

How about an old radio? Depending on where you live it could hide the fact that you have a better radio hidden elsewhere. It would also keep the dash with a stock look, if the Bronco looks stock otherwise. And if you don't tell the girlfriend/wife about the dual radios, when she tries to change that station, somehow it is always stuck where you want it. ;D

A PO cut my dash as well. I found a Ford radio delete plate and painted it to match; hardly noticeable. P/N = E69Z-1104371-B

I like the vintage look of the radio deletes. What vehicles are you guys getting those from?

But from a practical standpoint I'd rather have a cubby there for my phone, garage clicker, etc. I don't know of a donor vehicle, but it's probably just as easy to fabricate one from scratch.

Need some switches for something? I made my own plate...

I am going to do something similar to 904bronco, but I found that five or six (can't remember right now) Carling-Contura rocker switch modular panels fit perfectly in my single din radio hole.

I have my VHF, CB, and small audio amp inside the center console, and the front tray holds my clicker and cell phone. I am adding an audio jack, power and USB port on the front of the console as well.

Good luck.

Looking at the delete plate and also thinking about the idea of a cubby made me think:
"What about putting a delete plate over the cubby to keep what's inside out of sight?"

But I don't have a hole in my dash for a radio, so if you're waiting for me to build one to show you, you'll be waiting a long time.

Back in the day I had a 1957 Chevy that came with a radio delete plate that was held in by spring clips, which made it easy on and off. Behind the plate was an 8 track tape player. Worked great for five years until I sold the car. Out of sight out of mind!
