Is there a way to tell from the VIN number or other ID on a bronco if it started life as a 6 cylinder rig?

Thanks!

Not per the VIN (unless it was a pre-March '66 build in which you know it HAD to be a 6 cylinder). Otherwise a look at the data plate could tell you what the original engine was.

Sorry to disagree Todd, but the VIN will tell you.

I know you know that... ;)

It's getting late - I should be asleep and not posting here. YES - the VIN does tell you that! :)

Which is why the so-called VIN decoder recently posted here is suspect. When you plug in a known F-code VIN it says that the Bronco came with a V-8. But F means a 6.
