there is an issue,

my old ICM with female connector had 6 wires .
my male connections that fits the ICM has 7 wires connected to it.

now why is there 6 wires on the ICM but 7 wires on my bronco male wires? why is there one wire missing? whats the purpose of the 7th wire?

now should i get a ICM unit with 6 wires again, or should i get an ICM unit that has 7 wires.
found an ICM unit with 7 wires from a 1975 mercury that fits bronco, should i install that one since it has 7 wires.

this unit is 7 wires

this is 6 wire unit that i have, similar to my old one.

The early units, '74 and '75, have a redundant wire in the harness. Modules are now made without that extra wire (it's cheaper). Don't worry about the 6/7 wire issue.

Do worry about the color of the insulating grommet on the module. '74 is black. '75 is green. '76-'77 is blue. You must use the correct module in your harness because all 3 types are wired differently.

Steve i will study the diagrams and also fill in more information about the bronco.
great information Viper, i will final check all wire colors.
was worried about the blue wire that came with the red and white.
now with the new boxes you have only red and white on one female clip. even my previous box , it had 6 wires, but when i did some research , i found out that few guys are running on 7 wires on there fords. supposedly they felt the truck just ran better.
purple orange green and black are on the other female clip.
many thanks guys
