Ignition switch frustration

Yes, I’d have to say you have two defective switches.
There should not be a fifth position that is active. Or, it might be normal for that fifth position to have power, but not for the fourth position to be dead.
There can be the final turn to the left for removing the cylinder. But you are correct in assuming that the first click to the left should have accessory power.
It seems to be functioning normally in all the other positions except for that one. So I don’t think you have anything positioned incorrectly.
I don’t know if there’s a better way to test things, but you could pull the switch completely out and check continuity on the traces and contact points on the back. Essentially you’ve already done that with your current testing, but I’m curious if there’s anything else to test.
Maybe somebody around here in the forum has one laying around they can test themselves.
I know I do! :) But I can’t get to them right now.

All fixed, CarQuest $18.00, working now. Interestingly their catalog for a 1971 Bronco had a threaded ignition switch not the bayonet style that I have. In their catalog the correct switch was listed for a 1966 Bronco.

Congrats! So looking at and testing this new one, would you said the old ones were incorrect application, incorrectly made, or simply defective?

I think I must have had a couple faulty switches from the same batch.
