Does anyone know the size of the small fine thread nut that goes on the back of the ignition switch? Thanks!

I just went through the same thing. Brand new switch that did not come with a nut. I tried 10-32, 5 mm, etc. etc. You could run your nail all the way down the threads. Finally an old man at Napa could see the threads were bad. He got them straight.

10-32 and if you goo to Lowes, they have large 10-32 brass nuts.

FYI I got switch nut 5mm

Had to replace my ignition switch ,the nut on the back is not 10-32 it’s 5 mm and you don’t get that when you buy a new switch like said before

I just went thru this with several switches. Got one at Napa and it was 10-32 like stock. Duralast from Autozone was 5mm.

OK, maybe not, just got my NOS switch and the body has motorcraft on it, M5 thread, its metric. So is it real NOS or fake?

I am in the process of installing a Painless harness and it came with the ignition switch and 10/32 nuts. They did not fit. I supplied M5 nuts and they did the job.

Thanks to the Chi-comms this is common and with Joe Bite-me we'll see a lot more of this.
