So I've been chasing a fuel delivery issue for months. About 6 months ago I swapped in a 23 gal tank and switched from a carb to tbi. And for the life of me, I could not get the system tuned. She would idle fine, in fact sounded great at idle, but as soon as I'd start driving, she'd bog down. Got a air/fuel ratio gauge and whenever she'd bog, it would read way too lean. So after months and months of trying to tune the throttle body, I decided to replace the fuel filters and remove the aux tank/fuel selector.

Well long story short, in the process I found my fuel line was totally kinked, like bent in half. Whoops, so replaced the line, and bam, all better. She runs fantastic now. But I can't believe I overlooked something that simple and obvious.

Don't feel too bad. We all do it. At least you can laugh at yourself for missing it! ;)

And your post may save someone else from similar frustration.

I had a similar thing happen to me.

I had fuel hose that made a 180° bend and it was sucking itself closed. It was cheap flimsy hose. Replaced it with higher quality hose and made the bend a little longer and all was good. Eventually replaced the 180° with hard line. THEN finally got rid of the bend entirely when I ditched the aux tank and installed 23gal tank.

I share your frustrations! And celebration!

No big deal, myself and friend paddled ourselves to death one afternoon after bowfishing all day. Outboard wouldn't start..............kill switch key had been pulled, we discovered this after about an hour and half of rowing........about 100y from the boat ramp.%)

I know the feeling. I had an issue with the main tank and thought it was just dirty and deris was clogging the line. While removing the tank with the Bronco up on a lift the support I had for the tank slipped and the tank fell. It hit the concrete right on the corner and cracked. Needless to say it was time for a new rear tank whether I wanted one or not.

My brother bought a '64 Olds F-85 Jetfire in great shape in the '70s from a neighbor for $30 'cause he couldn't get it to start and he got fed-up with it. Brother and his friend put in new distributor cap - old one cracked - and burned rubber all the way down the neighbor's driveway when they left. Funny times, neighbor po'd for being dumb.

We all have a recessive moron gene/chip that kicks in when it is least convenient. Welcome to the club of those that can admit it.
