I ride a Harley and most Harley riders' wave. It's not a flailing arm wave, kind of hard to describe. Different than sport bike riders.

if your off the side of the road with your hood up dont expect them to pull over and check if your OK. Theese people are not Bronco people Their just richer Jeep people. Trying to be cooler. Take away the credit card they are nothing. there a few good ones but they are few and far between.

I see several Early Broncos at the sand dunes and will wave at all I see. The newer ones, won't initiate a waive but will return one...

When I'm on my bike I waive at everyone from the Harleys to the giant Hondas, sport bikes to mopeds.

I have a modified 50cc scooter from when I was younger that I used to ride all over the place. I noticed that sport bikes would waive to me on that but not the Harley crowd. I feel like if you pick and choose who you waive at based on their bike you are kindof missing the point of the waive. I respect anyone out on less than 4 wheels. Even those can-am things.

I think Harley has put a lot of effort into positioning themselves as the "real motorcycle" brand and it is backfiring a bit now.

This. You don't buy a Bronco, you earn it. I'm not waving at a Yuppie whose biggest project was writing the check.
I agree with the first part of this and dont agree with the second part. I currently have two EBs. I have owned my 67 for almost 20 years and built it from the ground up I have done just about all the work from engine rebuild to wiring to body work and paint. I think I have had 9 total Ebs over the last 20 years and one fullsize! The Ebs will always be my emotional favorites but there is something to be said for just hopping in the 2022 and going not worrying about it over heating, or vapor locking or whatever might go wrong. I am not a yuppie that wrote a check. I worked hard for the money to be able to buy what I want at this point in my life. I am proud that if I dont want to deal with all the crap that comes with working on a 50 year old truck I don't have to! I give a lot of respect to all the classic car owners especially those that have done most of the work themselves, but I also appreciate the new broncos and the people that chose to drive them. Yes I know most are mall crawler, soccer moms, or kids that have big trust funds, but there are plenty of people that enjoy what they can do, what they are and maybe also have an EB in the garage at home!

I wave when I see anyone old classic ride. I feel I know what it means to that driver..
But in my town ... We're noted as being the Cowboy Capital ofthe world .
So with this many Cowboys in town they don't care about your old car. They have a Dodge 300 with th=eir name written on the side & some even they've won & Their 150K trailer behind it. They don't care .
& Then our local College has gone D1 & THIS YEAR NEW CROP OF FRESHMAN ... They are not the type of working kidswe got just a few years ago.
.... Not one ever even looks at My 73 Bronco when I at a fuel station . Or at lights stopping ...
& My is different with the Plastic Camo skin & My Noisy diesel sound .
.............I just don't understand this younger generations.

Whos driving the new Broncos?

I spot several everytime I ride the 77 around. I throw my hand up, nothing. Sit at traffic light next to them, nothing, not even a glance.

I seriously don't think they know they are in a Bronco.

Ive showered, change my cloths, hair style and none of that has helped either.

Old rovers, cruisers, Cj's will wave.

So, I officially quit, waving that is.

Yeah prob to be expected right.. the new age

We get lots of attention/waives when out in the 77. I suppose there are plenty of yuppies writing checks to have and early Bronco built too, perhaps they didn't earn it either?

This thread is too funny. I will only respond to a wave, if we make some sort of eye contact and they initiate it. I could care less who waves back. Ususally, people don't recognize my '73 and they look down at the fender to read B-R-O-N-C-O. Some will even confuse the '66-'77 with the New Bronco.

So far every new Bronco owner has waved and when I see one where we are stopped, they have been extremely interested in my 75 Ranger. Actually the new Bronco owners have been more interested in my 75 than other classic Bronco owners. The exception to this is Bronco Sport owners, who do not seem care about Broncos in any way. I agree that it is the individual and not the overall group of people that buy New Broncos. Ford Bronco is the coolest vehicle on the planet, old or new!!

An interesting thing about the new Bronco wave, and assuming its a carryover from jeepers, is that if the "wave protocol" is followed, then the newer Bronco (Gen6) should initiate the wave to the older Bronco (early Bronco). In the jeep community this is supposedly a sign of respect of the newer model to the older model.
I hope your kidding because that is one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

A first wave is a sign of a kind of respect no matter what the circumstances or the participants.

I've driven past several new broncos in my 69 over the past few weeks. Even parked next to a couple and I haven't had any one of the new bronco drivers acknowledge that Im in an old one or even wave or nod....Oh well...

Not kidding. Here are the "rules"! LOL

The Jeep Hierarchy

The rules related to this Jeep hierarchy have much to do with who waves first. In general, the inferior Jeep initiates the wave, which is returned by the driver of the higher-ranking Jeep. Lucky for you, it’s easy to determine the score of another Jeep in just a few moments at a stoplight or passing on a trail. Here are some important rules to know and follow:

  • Age Matters

The older the Jeep, the higher its ranking, in most cases. See an original Willys out there? You wave first. CJs get a higher score than JKs, etc. In the newer realm of Jeeps this does vary a bit though.
  • Dirt Matters

Is your Jeep spotless, just out of the car wash? You best be waving to all those Jeepers who still bear the dirt of the previous weekend. The dirtier the Jeep the better. This can get a little tricky, as a dirtier JK covered in mud may outrank a sparkling clean CJ. It depends.
  • Top or Topless?

The topless Jeep passengers are more exposed to the elements than those in a Jeep with the top on, so they rank higher in the hierarchy. A topless Jeep covered in mud top to bottom? That’s a tough one to beat.
  • Accessories

Winches, jacks, light bars, lift kits and larger tires, replacement bumpers, and snorkels all have an effect on your hierarchy score. The more accessories you have that scream “rock crawler” and “serious Jeeper” rather than daily driver, the higher your rank. See a decked-out CJ rolling toward you on the trail? You initiate the wave.
  • Model Matters

A decked-out Cherokee? That driver defers to the Wrangler driver.
Whatever your Jeep score, the key is to be a courteous member of the Jeep family. That is, after all, what the Jeep Wave is all about.

Again, I quit.

So last Friday Im at a traffic light. I have pole, next to me is a 4 door, ( Actually had the doors and top off, strange.) Never one look, I was going to ask them what they were driving. Maybe even tell them , 'nice jeep.'

This war has just begun, lol.

I am over the Jeep wave. If someone waves to me when I am driving my Jeep I will wave back but the Jeep wave hierarchy is just ridiculous.

I will wave at new or old broncos if I feel like it. Would be way more likely to wave at an EB than a new bronco. I have gotten a few thumbs up and a couple of waves in our new bronco but not nearly as much as my 67, and that is ok with me.
