Installing disc brakes

I started installing the chevy disc brake conversion on my bronco last night. I ran into a problem when I tried to install the 4x4 collar that splines to the inside of the hub. It would not slide in and out properly. I could get it in with persuasion (ie lfh) but it would not slide back out. Spent 30 minutes working it out with a couple of screwdrivers. Put the same collar in the other hub on the bench and it seemed to work fine. Got the second hub/rotor installed and the same thing though not quite as bad.

Any thoughts? Any body run into this before and have a solution?

Thanks.

Sounds like you have a burr or pitts in the splines of the hub. I would clean them very well and inspect. If you find any burrs, clean them up with a small file. If you find any pitting, you can try a little valve lapping compound and a wire brush to clean/smooth the pits. Hope this helps, good luck!

Sounds like it's worth a try. I cleaned everything up pretty good but I'm going to go back with the wire wheel and clean out all the grooves a little better.
