Interesting cross-reference for the Explorer 5.0 4G alternator

I was doing some research on a possible alternator replacement for the Explorer 5.0 alternator in my rig a few evenings ago and noticed some fine print at the bottom of the page I was viewing. It stated that the Explorer 5.0 alternator was also used on the Ford 2005-2006 GT. Conventional wisdom has always held that the 4G alternator was only used on the Explorer 5.0s so I was surprised to see that cross-reference.

I googled some pics of the GT's engine and sure enough, it looks like they raided the Explorer parts bin for the alternator on their $150K (now often selling for $400-$500K+) supercar back in the day.

You can use that reference the next time you're at Autozone or OReillys and see if the poor counter guy/gal even has those cars in his/her computer....

Interesting, I wondered if they were the same. I noticed that they looked like the Explorer alternator, but I just assumed it was a one-off sort of deal.
