Is emissions equipment that bad?

wonder why all race cars, dragsters, NASCARs, Indys don't have emission systems. maybe has something to do with engine performance.

One other reason these don't have emission equipment is they are tore down after every run and rebuilt

The biggest reason for not running it is a simple lack of understanding.. There is a reason that modern vehicles run better for much longer with less repairs than those of 40yrs ago.. Mine will have '96 level emissions, just like the donor..

I agree...

My 77 has an 89 mustang motor that is compliant with California emission testing. I felt I knew more about the systems than the Smog Referee and Test stations. The EFI runs better than the 77 Carb motor, has more power, and is 3+ times cleaner out the tail pipe than the carb was... I want to keep the Hobby alive and not have it outlawed... The price of fuel is doing that now anyway...
