• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

For the pictures I saw I would still say too high. I find its easier to buy one that hasn't been touched and do the work right then buy one that's has been cobbled up. Unless its done right.

When you see rust coming up from a rattle can spray liner, it means there was not a proper preparation done. In a few years you will see it bubble up in areas, sorta squishy to the touch. Rust will continue underneath that coating and you won't see it till its too late and causes several thousand in damage. Again, I would move on to a tub without a cheap liner put in, unless its a documented build on this website.

Yes it's worth between $5k-$9k. But let's figure on the high side for instance. Lets say he drops it down to 9k. I saw where you want to drop in a manual, it's gonna run say in the ballpark of a grand when you consider parts and labor. So you are at $10k. Now you need help with brakes for those nice tires, so you get a booster pump and front disc brakes. That again will run you.... ehhhh... another grand for parts and labor. The very next thing I would do is figure on having a pro redo the inside of that tub. Hopefully there won't be any hidden rust holes that has to be patched and get a a long warrantee, say 5 yrs if they do that. That cost will be say another grand for a turn key job.
So you figure you would have invested $3k easy into a bronco with a very nice looking paint job. Other than replacing the auto tranny, that bronco "may" be worth $11k -$12k to a potential buyer with such upgrades. Offer $8k cash money and say take it or I'm leavn!

Sam, I think you're missing the point buddy. This isn't really a good buy, no matter what the price. It was a really bad paint over rust job and there's no way to find out how many issues were covered up until you'd take it all apart and blast it back to metal and see what you're actually working with. Given your posts above, you don't have the budget to do that, or the time/ability to do it yourself, so like we've said earlier your best bet is to go find another truck!!!

It took a couple of years to find a bronco. I originally wanted a very unmolested, uncut, 3 on the tree bronco, preferably PS and PB, but not a 76 or 77. I didn't mind doing any mechanical work, but it was going to have to be straight, 95%-100% rust free, and drivable down the road with little wrenching. My budget was $8K. Not finding really what I wanted close by, my search quickly expanded to about a 700 mile circle from home, something I could drive one way in a day to pick up. Eventually found the one I bought, 71', cut, 3.5" lift, brand new 33" tires, new steering column and wheel, new fuel tanks, rear locker, interior bed liner, new drive shafts, fresh 302, rebuilt np435, new Luk clutch, new 4bl carb and intake manifold, power steering, power brakes, front discs, new HEI ingnition, new winshild wiper setup with low profile custom cover, all wireing good, all lights work, all dash knobs work, full size spare, custom front/rear bumpers, hard top, bikini top, 9500lb winch, front/rear diff skid plates, 5pt seat belts in front, new WH twin sticks, Hella lights, new radiator. These items, and it's virtually rust free, total up the reciepts, and I couldn't keep from buying. Not what I orignially looked for, but couldn't pass it up. Other than the diesel and driving 1400 miles, didn't spend a penny over budget. Yes it took a while, but I super happy with it, so is the wife! Now the search begins for the unmolested that I started looking for!:)

You'll find the right one. IIRC, there were several that I saw on the east coast that were within my budget and really had my interest, it was just too far.

I suggest finding a bronco that you can actually see the metal floors. Just bc the floors may look like chit don't mean they are bad, kinda what you saw in mine. It's bad when it creeps up into the rockers, door posts and windshield brace area. Out of all of those floors are the easiest especially with all the vendors who have their own specialized floor pans. If it has carpet, pull it up and get dirty.

Find a bronco with PS, Dana 44 front, and pwr brakes. If you find one with no lift and has small tires that is a good sign in my book. I told this to a fella up in northern Virginia the other day, if your budget is $8k find a bronco that $7200. Use the rest to fix potential issues such as brakes, leaks, tune up and alignment. Spend 90% of your budget on a bronco and use the rest on SAFETY! But once you start spending you will find out like the rest of us that Broncos love cash, checks and credit cards!
