I'm getting a hard pedal on start up and when I pump the brake. Any ideas? Does the booster have an internal check valve that could have failed?

Also, can I get a replacement from a local parts house? If so, for what vehicle?

try this. mash down on your brake pedal and THEN start your bronco. if the pedal goes up then the booster is good. that is a good starting point. if you think the vavle is bad contact the said vendor to find a replacement sourse.
other issues if you have disc up front is that the calipers are worn out and locked up.
