The bronco owner Sabas blew up his 302 coming back from TDS. Blew the #4 Piston and bent a valve on the #7 cylinder.
We were able to find low mileage junkyard 351 Roller motor from a F250.

We then torn it down & rebuilt it.
Cleaned out most of the harness.

He had Windsor Jr Heads on the 302 so we got them freshened up to use on this motor. Had upper & lower intake ported & polished as well. The lower intake is from a Mercury Boat….HEAVY!! but ported nicely for low end torque.

BTW this motor has an inline oil cooler at the block. Sweet set-up that we kept, will have more on this setup. The inline oil cooler was available in F250 with tow package.

Put the explorer serpentine set-up on the front end, and the Taurus Fan with VW Jetta 2 speed switch. Both fit without any problems.

I did a nice custom harness for the EFI and the Taurus fan.

More to come....

Bronco is now @ the exhaust shop getting new 2 into 1 exhaust. Next the dyno., btw the old 302 was dyno’d @ 190hp at the rear wheels running 37 Military beadlocks. Stay tune….

Any reason you went with the Explorer serp setup instead of the one that was on it? Was it more compact? The reason I ask is that when I did mine, I just used the existing serp setup. It works fine, but is a bit tight. I only have a little over an inch between the fan and radiator with a flex fan and 1/2" spacer. The radiator is stock.

The explorer serpentine set-up is more compact making it easy to use the Taurus Fan.

Yep, it even bolted up to the 700r4 pretty easy. Ric's harness is plug & play.

Any idea how much clearance you gain? Thinking of converting. I take it you need to use the Explorer water pump too?

Correct, you need the explorer timing cover and pump for the pulleys to line up.

Great swap!! I'm jealous! A parts break down and estimated cost (specifically on each item) would be super! It would give us an idea of how much to invest i such a journey. Great thread and thx for posting pics!

Looks good!

Whats up with the pwr steering pulley? Smaller than stock? can you tell a difference?

Are you running a body lift? The reason I ask, I'd like to switch to that intake setup, I have an exploder upper and would like to find a marine 351 lower(gt40) I have a 1 inch body lift, stock hood.. thanks

Pulley is from Driven Auto, I had my Steering pump redone, It turns the 37" H1 tires easy.
running a 2"body lift, I run a hood scoop. Wild Horses sells them, in fact my bronco is shown on that catalog page.

Crawdad most of the parts were picked up throughout the years. EFI set-up 3 years ago. Explorer set-up was put on a couple years ago, Taurus fan was installed last year, Most of parts were bought during 1/2 off days at boneyard.
