#1 The KP bearings are obviously shot. I take it there's no way to remove the bearings, race & seal without removing and probably damaging the dampeners?

#2 The KP caps look either worn or possibly tapered? I can only find used?? Anyone know where to get these?

When I redid the KPs in my D30 I didn't replace the races or dampeners (early 80s). The races had some rust pitting, so I cleaned them as smooth as possible with some emery cloth and just put in the new bearings and seals. They turn 1/2 a revoulution at most and don't reach any significant speed. They were still tight when I grenaded the ring and pinion some 10 years later. I'd save the $60 plus S&H for the dampeners and apply it to a new D44 when the 30 blows. My 2 pennies...

ya getting my old kingpins out i found i had to take the bolts loose and let them soak for a couple days and use a pair of channel locks and they came out but after i got em off i decided to go with a 44 because i would of spent like 200 dollars rebuilding it and i used that 200 for a 44

Thanks all..my D30 is in great shape aside from these KP, not planning on anything extreme so the D44 will have to wait till its needed. Plus I have everyting I need except for the dampeners. Anyone know if the pins have a taper to them? Or a way to remove the races without punching them through from the other side. Thanks all.
