Hey All i bought and installed this Lares Corp. new steering box on my 69 .I bought it from cj pony parts but summit racing and rock auto also has them.I picked this one because it mounts up perfect to the frame and the input and steering splines as well as the hose ports are the same as the factory box.It replaced a six turn box on my already already nice driving bronco but this new 4 turn made it even nicer.I'm running 33x12.50 tires. The price was a bargain also.

Interesting to see others coming forward with new boxes for our trucks. Took a look at Lares' website. It looks like they assemble boxes here in the US but the manufacturing is actually done overseas.

Not much said about warranty, then again I wasn't a "registered user" on the CJ Pony site.
Wondering if it will bring down the cost of factory boxes at some point, given there are options now?

Ran across Lares a year or two ago. Didn’t seem like that had the new Bronco boxes back then but I my memory might be off. At the time I noticed the 4x4 box that is used in the 4x4x2 conversion. They had those available new and at the time I wondered if you could get the reverse rotation parts and swap in. They say OEM specs on them but whether they would interchange is the question.

Note that they do rebuilt as well, those are a 4 digit number and the new parts add an extra 1 in front. So a 1083 Lares would be the rebuilt version!

On the rock auto site it says it has a limited lifetime warranty.I have about 100 miles on it so far and it feels nice and smooth.Cj pony parts was free shipping and i ordered it a Friday morning and it was at my house Monday afternoon. They also had a groundhog day special that knocked another 8% off the price.

I had a 6 turn box that I resealed 2 times and it still leaked out the input shaft. Also it was not super smooth turning hard right, groaned a bit. I purchased the Lares 11083 New Bronco steering gear with a lifetime warranty from RockAuto. I drive 99% on street and trail so I figure it should be fine. I do not know if I would use this box for rock crawling but who knows. The 4 turn is nice and responsive. Effort is a bit more that the old box and smooth and quiet. It centers better than the old box too. Here are some comparison photos. Will have to drive it for a while to fgive a full test. Price is right and delivery was quick and a warranty.

Thanks, for now I put it in the Lares cardboard box and put it on the shelf next to my spare Dana 20. We will see how this new one holds up.

I have over 500 miles on my new lares box and no issues at all.The new 4 turn box along with the helwig front stabilizer bar has it feeling like it’s on rails and hugging the curves with confidence.I saw that they listed a new box for my 67 Ranchero so I bought one and installed it with the same results.
