Leaking carburetor - to rebuild or not?

My 6-cyl carb is leaking so badly that the Bronco won't even stay running.

It is not leaking at the carb to spacer gasket or the spacer to intake gasket, it is peeing out of the carb linkages and fittings.

Carb seems to be in good shape, but I have never rebuilt a carb before and am unsure how to tell if a carb is worth rebuilding.

It looks like my options are trying a $20 rebuild kit and see what happens, or $200+ for a rebuilt carb from Kragen.

Will a full rebuild generally fix a leaky carb?

Usually a carb only leaks because the needle seat is leaking or the float level is to high. I'd say rebuild it first its very easy and like you said only about $20.

Don't know if you need it but I just took off a two barrel carb that was running good.. I just bought a new 4 barrel.

Pm me if you need it.

If you meen it's leaking out of the butterfly shaft, they can be re-bushed and be as good as new. An old school machine shop or carburator shop can usually do this, OR send you to the right guys. The last one I did was on a quadrajet back in the 90's, we couldn't get it to stop leaking or hold a tune, $40 later it was like a brand new carb.
