The Lonestar Early Bronco Club is adding a new event to the Round Up (April 24-27 in Mason, TX - see this thread) this year - a street cruise on Saturday from 10:00 am to approx. 2:00 pm. We'll leave right after the group photo and return in the early afternoon in time to get ready for the Show-N-Shine or to catch a trail or 2 before the Saturday evening activities.

The route will be through some local beautiful Hill Country scenery along the Llano and James Rivers. It will be partially paved and partially dirt roads with several low water crossings easily traversed by a stock Bronco. It will include a stop for lunch along the way.

This is being added to have an activity for LEBC members and guests who have either street modified or stock Broncos, and also for those of you who have a street-legal trail rig and want to take a break from the trails and go on al scenic tour of the Hill Country with family. LEBC member Ken L. has volunteered to lead the street cruise and he has laid out a nice route for us. It should be lots of fun!

Stay posted here for more updates. Let us know if you're interested in this or if you have any questions.

Gary

Ken and I pre-ran the Street Cruise earlier this week. It should be a fun and scenic drive. Here's what is planned:

Time: 11am to 1:30PM on Saturday, April 26

Length: approximately 60 miles

Route: From Mason, FM1871 to Mill Creek Rd, Mill Creek Rd to CR4301/E. Mill Rd to James River Rd, James River Rd to FM2389, FM2389 to FM1723, FM1723 to US87 and back to Mason (see posted route map)

Features: Multiple shallow river crossings - Llano and James Rivers, canyons and scenic vistas, wildflowers and wildlife (some exotics).

Services: Picnic lunch provided by LEBC! Build your own sandwich set up with chips and cookies. Water and soft drinks provided.

IMPORTANT: Please note there are no bathroom stops on this route! We plan to gather and start the tour at the Stripes convenience store in Mason, the last public bathroom. A camping port-o-potty will be carried for emergencies. Every effort will be made to keep the tour on time!

Your Tasks: Prepare your Broncos! Gas up ahead of time. Listen for additional details and late changes to the plan that will be announced at the driver's meetings and the Friday night concert. Meet in the designated area for departure (currently at the Stripes convenience store). Please respect private property on the route.

Contacts: Ken Laird, Tour Lead and Gary Gibson

We've got quite a few already signed up, but there is room for more! Come join us!

Here's a map of the route.

The river crossings are all on solid bedrock and are 6-8 inches deep. No mud! ;D

The route goes by a couple of exotic game ranches. In addition to seeing some of the native wildlife (deer, turtles, roadrunners. . . ) Ken and I saw an ostrich and some black buck antelope that had escaped one of the ranches.

Mill Creek Road? Why didn't you tell me you were coming all the way back up to my place! ;D

Sounds like a great time! Since the Bronco is such a diverse vehicle which is used in so many ways by their owners, it is always nice to have some other activities for those who still love their Broncos just as much, but may not trail ride or rock crawl with them. I am sure there are lots of nice stock and street modified Broncos in the Lonestar state!

For those of you who have not met Gary yet, he is a really great guy and a die hard Bronco guy through and through! He did a fantastic job as Events Director and President when he lived here in VA, and we were sad to see Gary and his wife Kyle go when he retired.

I have been wating to make the trek from PA to check out the LEBC Roundup for a long time, hopefully one day soon!

Yeah, just a short trip to PA and back!!

Thanks Drew - the Texas Hill Country has some pretty cool roads to explore. Last I checked we had 14 Broncos registered for the scenic cruise - so it should be fun!

Thinking about coming to LEBC round up, mostly interested in the street cruise and show-n-shine, I'm about as stock as it gets.. Saw where a roll bar or hard top is required? I don't have either right now... Would that be just for trails or is that required for the cruise also? I'm in northwest Louisiana, sounds like a makeable event..

Hard top or roll bar is required for trails. For the street cruise your Bronco just needs to be street legal with seat belts for all passengers. Hope to see you there!

Scenic Street Cruise Update! We have a special treat for everyone going on the Round Up Scenic Street Cruise . . . our lunch stop will be at the famous Eckert James River Bat Cave! It's one of the largest "bat nurseries" in the country. The Club has arranged for a special private presentation during our lunch stop. We'll eat lunch right at the mouth of the cave! Of course at noon time we may not see any actual bats, but seeing the cave and hearing the presentation should be very interesting. The cave is located about 1500 feet from the parking lot and has lots of shade and benches. It is an easy walk to the cave.

The Club will provide lunch and also a donation to the Preserve.
