We've got a few new events for the Round up this year!

First on Friday morning is the "Point and Shoot" event. This event is headed up by Lee Novikoff (Lee N here on CB). From Lee's post to the LEBC mailing list:

There will be a new event at the Round Up this year called "Point and shoot". It will be a VERY simplified rock crawling event.
Cleanest run through the Bent Gent takes the trophy! It will be Friday Morning, Trail is easily accessible and very close to camp. It is a 4.5-5 rated trail so a scratch or dent is a possibility (no car show competitors please). I'd recommend 37" tires or larger. Passengers and spectators are welcome. Should be a fun run and a blast to watch!

Rules are easy.
- one point deduction for each reverse
- if you pull a cable you are out
-NO SPOTTER (You can stop, exit the truck, survey a line, etc. As many times as you want)

The second new event is for the kids! On Saturday morning Amy Clouds will be hosting Kids Pancake Breakfast. Guess what some the pancakes will look like!

And the 3rd new event is the Ladie's Trail Ride - lead and driven by ladies only! Suzy Duff held a Ladies Wheeling 101 Course at last year's Round Up and she'll be back this year to see the results of her teaching! Cindy Allen will be leading the ladies over a moderate trail and Suzy will be there to lend a hand when/if needed.

You won't want to miss any of these new events! Hope you see you at the Texas Round Up April 24-28, K2 - Katemcy Rocks, Mason Texas.

You'd have wanted more than 37's for the Bent Gent trail Point and Shoot. Here's a couple shots of my line over the 2nd obstacle. I ended up edging out Brandon Cox who did it with only 2 back ups, my run was perfect until the very last obstacle where I diff'd out the rear and had 1 back up. Walter Cox was 3rd after trying the V-notch to recover some earlier lost points - but ended up in all sorts of bad spots on that notch. We then spent an hour extracting a jeep off the V-notch...silly rabbit!

All the new events were big hits this year. Lots of people turned out to watch the Point and Shoot. Watching them come over the ledge on Bent Gent WITHOUT A SPOTTER was awesome to see. The Ladies Trail Ride was lots of fun. In addition to the ladies driving a number of ladies rode along on their first time off road ever. And it was not cake walk trail. They all had a blast! (Thanks to Cindy Allen for leading and Suzy Duff for providing some expert advice to her students from last year.) And of course, how could a Kid's Pancake Breakfast NOT be a success?? We had more kids this year than anyone can remember.
