Who's got an LED plug in trouble light that puts out the same or more lumens than 100w incandescent? I had a friend forget to turn off his 100W incandescent and it caught his shop and fire ...total loss!

Just thought it's time to quit worrying about melting carpet or seats or str wheels or whatever it's touching like my hand or my Bronco!

Brands??

thanks

A lot more choices out there in the last year or two. I just picked up what would be more of a "work or shop light" as opposed to the more traditional hand-held "drop light" type. Holy crapola Batman! These guys are bright!

Something like $30 at Costco. Most of the tool companies now have something similar too.
For drop light/task light/under dash light type thingies, I'll let the others weigh in on that, as I have not found one I liked yet.
But a buddy does have a slicker-n-heck flourescent that has extendable hooks at both ends that he can hang just about anywhere. We used it to work on his engine bay by simply hanging it sideways from each edge of the hood while it was propped up. Man, was that handy!
You can just see it in this pic:

I bet those come in LED's now too.

If you already have the Edison socket trouble light you can simply buy a 1400-1500 lumen (100w equivalent) LED bulb from a big box store.

Of that's not as much fun as buying a new light. :)

Only LED bulbs I have are Cree and they are about 20 bucks...wonder what the shock resistance is of a "regular" LEB bulb is?

I recently bought an old fashion metal drop light but put a weird shaped LED in it, brighter than a regular bulb, very shock resistance, tested it many times, very happy with it, got it from HD.

My wife bought me the Snap-On LED work light from Costco. Love it.
Don't need to worry about rolling into it when I'm under the Bronco and catching my hair on fire.

I appreciate the input. I was at Costco today and didn't see the LED light but I'll keep looking.

I might look for a cheapo LED bulb and see if I can make it work in my incandescent trouble light...

There's a new GE bright stick LED bulb that is compact enough to fit in a droplight. Can't speak on the durability . They rate bulbs by color as well as watts ,cool white, daylight, etc. Daylight is the brightest. Don't know how they compare to a multi-LED light but for about $11.00 you get 3 and if you don't like them put them in the house fixtures, great porch lights.
