I just picked up a 75 sport that is stock other than cut fenders. I am looking for lift and tire and wheel size recommendations.

This will be my daily driver. I do not want to go too high because i am getting a little older and have a bad back so the climbing in and out sucks.

I am thinking about a 3inch lift with 33 x 12.5 x 16s. mt bronco is all original so it also need all new bushings as well. I do have 6 brand new bilstien 5100 shocks that i took off my 68 after i rolled it. they were only on for 8 days. so i need front and rear springs, shock hoops and all the bushings. please recommend components.

i would like it to sit level, maybe even have the front 1/2" higher in front

Also, will i need a drop pitman arm with a 3 inch lift?

My last bronco had a 2 inch body lift and l liked the hieght but i dont care to do a body lift unless it is a better way to go.

What is the more common tire size, 33s or 35s?

thank you all in advance

Greetings!

3" of suspension, plus 1" of body lift makes a really sweet set-up running 33" or 35" tires.

Most of the companies sell 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" lift spring. I personally would go with either Duff or Wild horses springs depending on shipping and price. Both are great products, and I don't think you can go wrong with either.

If you are doing body bushings, you can look into the 1" body lift bushings. No extra pucks, just taller bushings. This set up with 3 1/2" springs can easily fit 35's, but may be a little taller than what you are looking for.

As for the pitman arm, it varies by rig, but most that I have seen either need drop pitman arm with 3 1/2" or tie rod over conversion. Just remember that if you do this, you have to move the track bar as well to keep the geometry in line. Not sure if you need one for 2 1/2" lift.

Getting it level is going to depend on how your rig is set up. do you have a winch, rear tire carrier with 33 or 35 is heavy, hard top. All of these play a role in front to rear height. Mine sits about an 1/2 inch higher in the rear with 3 1/2" all the way around, but I have a winch on the front and feel it will level out when I build a tire carrier for the rear bumper.

I just replied to your other thread with some of this info. Basically though, with your bad back (even though you have a good budget) I would tend to recommend the 2.5" suspension plus 1" body lift and 33" tires over the taller setup.
The "look" is still there either way, and the smaller tires are better all around for what you're intending it sounds like.

Also, what do you intend as far as transmissions? Keep the stock one, or upgrade? If upgrading, most modern ones are larger and really appreciate the extra room a body lift affords. But 2" or more body lifts definitely start to look the part. Keeping it to 1" (or less if you don't mind cutting sheet metal) looks better to me.

And at least as far as ours are concerned, a 2.5" rear spring might sit a tad low just the way you want it, with a hard top and spare tire and large gas tank.
Supposed to sit level of course, but as always "your results may vary" applies. You can always remove leaves too.

Good luck.
Oh, and what part numbers are your shocks? Just curious if they're the standard ones or something else.
