What rotation is it to open the liftgate?
I noticed that it can be set-up both directions.
What was stock rotation?

PO hacked the handle and pivot part for the rods of the hardtop that I got.

When mine is latched the handle is horizontal and pointing to the right.(pass side) To open the liftgate you rotate the handle counter-clockwise so it is pointing up.

the correct way is handle pointing to pass side locked rotate handle counter clockwise pointing towards top open. i hate seeing the handles sprung down toward bumper when closed.

Thanks guys! I got it working right, I had to weld and build up the square shaft as it only spun around not gripping the pivot. I need get a new handle anyway because I can't lock it. No key.
