Low voltage problem

So lately I have been driving the bronco to work in the morning and it is still dark outside. When I am driving down the road with the lights on I notice all of my dash lights as well as my head lights randomly getting bright then dim. There is not real pattern to it so I don't know if it is when I hit a bump or what, it just is dim for a few seconds then bright for a few. My amp gauge has never really worked so that doesn't help me diagnose my problem. I am still running the stock alternator. Does this sound like an alternator problem or maybe a regulator or something? I haven't really had any dead battery problems but I'm not sure how quick it would drain it.

Thanks,
Adam

First thing I'd do would be to clean all your grounds - alt, battery cable, battery terminals, etc. Start with good clean grounds, reassess the situation, then go from there.

My headlights went off the other night as well my dash lights, my problem was the connector to my hi/dimmer switch in the floor, might want to look at that as well
