Thanks Tim. Yes brown for me is hot on key ON. The 3-wire plug was part of a Ron Francis Kit so the colors don't match. Anyway, I got it working now. Mission complete. Hopefully that's the end of the low voltage thread.

Somehow, I got it stuck in my head that the Brown wire had to be the A wire, but I think that's the small Red one. If it's the Indicator "I" wire, then it's OK to come from a key-switched fuse, but it would be better to add a dash-mounted incandescent (not LED) light bulb in that circuit.
