Thank you! As mentioned above, I'd have to dig into my sons college fund for an atlas transfer case and I'd have to dig into his college fund AND my 401k for a coyote swap. Plan B, he can always ride the bus to school.

I stuck with the GM transfer case(242?). It fit between the frame rails but we had to notch the floor a bit. Mainly chose it for ease of initial start up. When everything gets sorted up, I'll swap to a 241.

lmao......

Ls swaps should be on a ls forum, not a an early Bronco forum.

I have a LS in my bronco. Just like everyone who has Chevy brake components dodge or jeep transmissions, we all upgrade. But you're right, I'm sure everyone would take the stock 302 over my aluminum fuel injected LS. To each his own.

I wouldn't call an ls an upgrade from a SBF. People that do swap them into Mustangs, Broncos or even their grandmas Dodge Dart are really just closet chevy lovers, brainwashed by magazines or other media that this is the correct way to go. I don't see any other reason for it.

I don't see why half the people here get upset over swapping a GM motor into a Ford. Yes, there will always be purist but more than 75% of CB members have upgrades that are NOT Ford motor products. Some members have GM distributors, nobody cares. Some have a 700R4 transmission (GM) and nobody cares. Hell, about everyone with disc brakes up front did the GM disk brakes conversion. I joined this forum because I have a passion for early broncos, not to get talked down on for putting a GM motor in my bronco. I just don't see what the big deal about cross breeding is. I highly doubt you (anyone in general, nobody specific) and your wife are the EXACT same ethnicity (that is unless you're related) but yet nobody is complaining. What's the difference? LOL

I also dont understand the thinking here. I think the haters just dont know how to fabricate things to put any thing else but a sbf undrer the hood. Funny how the bronco with the cummins engine at sc got plenty of ooohhs and aaahhs from the crowd even though that motor most likely came out of a dodge truck, imo one of the most terrible trucks on the planet but that was ok. At the end of the day its all just nuts and bolts. Btw mine has a sbf under the hood.

I personally don't have a problem with Ford, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Chrysler, Mazda, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.

Let's put the shoe on the other foot for a minute - how would you REALLY feel if you popped the hood on a Corvette for example and saw a Ford motor? Some things just ain't right; that's certainly ONE of 'em!

Ford motors are harder and more $ to make big horsepower than Chevrolet motors, no doubt about it; which to MY eyes makes it all the MORE worthwhile...

I biggest issue with LS engines is not that they are Chevy, it's that everyone thinks they are so great, how cheap they are to build etc. Yes you can stick a cam and a tune in one and put the horsepower and torque peak even higher than they already are so the numbers look impressive but that's it. High revving no low end torque.

You beat me to it. Join an early Blazer/ Jimmy forum and tell everyone your going to swap in a 5.0 Coyote and see how well that goes over.

If I were thinking and engine swap in my 66 now I'd seriously be looking at an Eco-boost for something completely different.

FWIW I've never understood the appeal of a Cummins in a Bronco either.

Because its different?

Can you seriously go to a car show, pop the hood on your classic whatever car and show off your ls swap?

I wouldn't even dump one into an early Camaro.

I'm thinking of an ls swap for my Mustang......maybe throw a Chinese turbo on it, would make a lot more power than the old 429.

As for my 66 Bronco, I'll keep the little 6 and retain the resale value.

I'll be swapping a 5.3 GM into my '66 U13. Originally a 170ci with 19,9XX miles. I'll never resale it so I don't mind devaluing it with a cross bred motor. My drivetrain cost me absolutely nothing (money wise). 5.3L V8 & 4L60E. I've tried searching for a coyote motor but I couldn't come across one for less than $4k which is a little over my budget considering we had a baby 7 weeks ago and I'm currently the only one working. Between a mortgage, household bills and other baby necessities (y'all know how it is) it's pretty much impossible to drop $4k on a motor, that's not including a transmission and transfercase. If I had money to boot then I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I wouldn't mind a 4BT but those fuckers are noisy.

I also wanted to build up a 200ci and add a T3/T4 turbo but after spending $3+ plus throughout the build I still wouldn't have the HP and torque that the 5.3 will give me stock.

Buy a rental property if you want to invest in something.

Ps your mustang would handle better with a LS too

True, but then you'd have something worth showing off with real car people genuinely interested in your build instead of well, I got this thing cheap from a junkyard, but it does have a lot of power!!!!

Huh? My work truck has a 6.0 in it. It's a torque monster. I stayed with a Windsor in my bronco, but I like LS engines.
