Thank you! As mentioned above, I'd have to dig into my sons college fund for an atlas transfer case and I'd have to dig into his college fund AND my 401k for a coyote swap. Plan B, he can always ride the bus to school.
Speaking of unbrorn children, I don't have any yet, but when I do...
I don't see why half the people here get upset over swapping a GM motor into a Ford. Yes, there will always be purist but more than 75% of CB members have upgrades that are NOT Ford motor products. Some members have GM distributors, nobody cares. Some have a 700R4 transmission (GM) and nobody cares. Hell, about everyone with disc brakes up front did the GM disk brakes conversion. I joined this forum because I have a passion for early broncos, not to get talked down on for putting a GM motor in my bronco. I just don't see what the big deal about cross breeding is. I highly doubt you (anyone in general, nobody specific) and your wife are the EXACT same ethnicity (that is unless you're related) but yet nobody is complaining. What's the difference? LOL
I personally don't have a problem with Ford, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Dodge, Chrysler, Mazda, Mercedes, Porsche, etc.
Let's put the shoe on the other foot for a minute - how would you REALLY feel if you popped the hood on a Corvette for example and saw a Ford motor? Some things just ain't right; that's certainly ONE of 'em!
Ford motors are harder and more $ to make big horsepower than Chevrolet motors, no doubt about it; which to MY eyes makes it all the MORE worthwhile...
Funny how the bronco with the cummins engine at sc got plenty of ooohhs and aaahhs from the crowd
FWIW I've never understood the appeal of a Cummins in a Bronco either.
Here's mine. Let's see what's got you so proud.
I'm thinking of an ls swap for my Mustang......maybe throw a Chinese turbo on it, would make a lot more power than the old 429.
As for my 66 Bronco, I'll keep the little 6 and retain the resale value.
I also wanted to build up a 200ci and add a T3/T4 turbo but after spending $3+ plus throughout the build I still wouldn't have the HP and torque that the 5.3 will give me stock.
I biggest issue with LS engines is not that they are Chevy, it's that everyone thinks they are so great, how cheap they are to build etc. Yes you can stick a cam and a tune in one and put the horsepower and torque peak even higher than they already are so the numbers look impressive but that's it. High revving no low end torque.
