Lug Nuts and Alcoas

I assume you already went through the type of lug nut needed in the other thread? While most (all?) modern Alcoas would use the conical seat nuts you showed, some older ones took a shanked nut instead.

If conical though, the ones you posted look fine to me.
If your wheels are fancy expensive models though, you might consider a set from Gorilla that are all locking nuts. That's what I've always used on my fancy wheels.
They would be available in both closed top (like in your picture) or open top more like a stock nut. Chrome, black chrome, and maybe even other finishes as well.

Open tops are a safer bet if you're not sure about the length of your studs, but I would think that with the old shorter studs of a typical EB, and the thicker center section of a (typical?) Alcoa, the closed tops would be fine.

Hopefully someone will know for sure. I mainly just wanted to inquire about the type of nut being confirmed.

Thanks Paul! Yes, they are conical 1/2"-20s. I have the open "nuts" now on my steelies, I guess I could just reuse those....

Absolutely. Could use those until you find some pretty ones you like best.
At the very least, experimenting with the old ones would tell you if there's going to be an issue with a particular type.

I got 20 open style acorn lug nuts off eBay for like $13 -- like lugnutking is the seller name-- super great deal.

Costco tire centers typically stock open and acorn type lug nuts for well under a buck a piece, I think I paid $.47 each last time for the open 1/2-20 nuts, not bad considering the auto parts stores wanted to charge upwards of $2 and $3 each for the same thing. I personally prefer the 3/4" wrench size nuts since the counterbores in many of the aftermarket wheels I've dealt with were virtually the same size as the OD of the thin-wall 13/16" socket...the extra space between the wrench and center caps makes me less likely to damage those surfaces as well.

The only issue with the chrome ones is that the first time someone goes after them with an impact, the chrome begins falling off & BOOM the rust devil appears. I have a box of Stainless ones that I scored at a MHT wheel open house that I'll be trying, but no impact on these either or I'd guess they may strip since S/S is so much softer...
