I did a 3 inch body lift on my 75, now the steering is to short and the wrong angle.
My neighbor has 2 EB's and had a flaming river U joint laying around that he gave me to fix this issue. Im not sure what the u joint was made for because it has large D shaped ID about 1.00inch with no splines and the steering shaft is .750. So I chucked the U joint in my lathe and bored it round then machined 2 sleaves (for each end) that had a .750 ID to recieve the steering shaft.
Im wondering if I can just cut the shaft in half and put the U joint in the middle? has anyone done anything like this?

I have a 3" body lift with power steering, and my steering shaft is set up just like you describe. I have a u-joint at the steering gear box, and another one up by the steering column housing. I haven't had any problems with mine.
