Got the engine set in. Now we are figuring out locations for motor mounts. Going to set the tub on tomorrow and see how things look for clearances.

My wife, Kurt's mom, just said 'To me it's about romance'. This project is a bit romantic...I built it first in 1979 for her as a 'car' (we didn't own a real 'car' for 14yrs.). We drove it vacationing, to the doctor, what ever for around 15 years..daily. Kurt owned it for a while and sold it to a friend. Regretfully it was allowed to deteriorate but saved by the bell! It came back into the family fold last August and the build is on in earnest now.

You can't beat a Bronco build thread. A father/son Bronco build that was in the family back in the day is awesome! Keep the updates coming.
We "met" over on Escapee's when you asked about POR-15.

lookin good - just curious - why do you need to figure out the motor mounts? shouldn't it just drop in with the stock mounts?

What did you do with the overdrive unit? Or am I the only person whom noticed it?

As for engine mounts..this was a 170 then in '79 I put a built 250 in (with the overdrive). Now the V8. Seems as the front mounts are different from 6cyl to V8s? Would Bronco V8 engine mounts work? The overdrive is still with us. Yes shamu YOU are the only one. 1957 3spd overdrive....millions went in American cars. Stab it and it kicks out of OD, throttle back and back in O/D...sweet! Oh ya, when in doubt...gas it!;D

Won't work because we are going from a straight 6 to a V8. I ordered some bushings from Energy today. We are going to build mounts.

gotcha, well if you're feeling lazy, Bronco Graveyard has them for $50

http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-10510-motor-stands-289-302-351w-pair.html

and I know there is a diagram out there that has exact measurements for where the motor mounts should be relative to the frame ends and other points on the frame using diagonal measurements.

It still amazes me that my 96 Explorer motor dropped right into my 69 frame.

Got the tub on today with the body lift hardware. Tractor came in handy. Everything went well. At the moment, it looks like we are building a luber but the body will get cut soon.

Looking great. The fact that this is a father son build of a family vehicle is AWESOME!!!

I hope my son rebuilds my bronco 20 years from now. ;)

Yep, Izzy. I have the best partner I could ask for on my build. Now that my father is retired, I am fortunate to get a lot of his time. We have nearly 3 months during this summer to make serious progress and then my mom and dad take off for warmer temps down south in their HDT.

Yeah, I took my loader off and put forks on but they didn't get a good enough bite so we ran straps around the braces we put in the doors. It helped to have the chassis on dollies. It allowed us to fudge things around as we set the tub down. We have bolts through all the body mounts. Headers should be here on Wednesday.

What did you do with that vintage Borg Warner overdrive unit hannging off the back of your Dana 20? That's a pretty rare piece.

Cool, so I'm starting to catch on here...been on a coupla' other forums for a while. The build is OK to look at but.....it's really about the other goodies. I ran that OD for 15 years. Had one in my '50 Merc coupe too........that really was a while back. Yes, we still have the B/W OD. I commented on the Escapees HDT board about the Jeep FC170 in shed in a photo. Always a detail.:)
