WH shorty Headers arrived today. Looks like we have some tweaking to do, as the passenger side header is hitting the dipstick tube for the 4r70w. Any tips?

ouch. Can you return them and get the hedman 88400 headers for $150?

did you read through my 4R70W thread?
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139552

part numbers and links on page 1. More info than you ever wanted to know on pages 2-11

We re-routed the dipstick tube and moved the attachment tab. Also cut the tab off on the tranny (the same one you cut off during your 4r70w install). Headers are in. Now we are making more suspension decisions. We are considering coil overs from King's and are busy figuring out what it will take to run a front sway bar. A lot of challenges and clearance issues but we think we've found a solution. Will no more early next week.

Currie Enterprises has their "Anti-Rock" line which you may be able to use for an anti-sway bar:

http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/categories.aspx?id=1234

and there are some posts on pirate which describe how to use torsion bars from IFS trucks as a sway bar too.

If you go coilovers and you get your valving right, you may not need an anti-sway bar. I have been taking some corners at 20 mph and body roll has not been a problem yet. The hybrid coilovers are pretty firm.

Lookin good on the buildup! Awesome father son project no doubt. Would love to do something like that with my dad but he isn't into it like I am with the fabricating and other stuff involved. %)

Now, talk to him about Whitetail Hunting and you've really got his attention! LOL!!!! ;D

Thanks, Dan. We have also been looking at these (with steel arms):

I want to have the ability to disengage the sway bar whenever I want. King shocks can easily be adjusted, but we are looking at 12 inches of travel in the front and we fear it will be unruly on the highway without anti-sway bars. My use will probably be 80/20 highway.

We made final determinations on articulation and clearance today and ordered our King Coilovers. Will take two weeks to build and should ship by the 14th of June. In the meantime, we will be working on shock hoops and mounts and front anti-sway bar design work.

Things have been kind of slow in the shop, as we have been waiting for our coilovers from King's. Once we get them, we will fab our shock hoops and finish installing our anti-sway bar. In the meantime, we decided to pull the front end and do a rebuild and disk brake conversion on the D30. Also decided to over-truss it

We mocked up some shock hoops today using plastic pipe. This helped us establish the degree of angles prior to bending our DOM tubing. It also confirmed our clearances for the anti-sway bar assy we are going to install.

Installed our anti-sway bar today. The link pins will come down and attach to the extended arms along with limit straps and air bump stops. King Coilovers should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. We plan on fabricating some fish plates to reinforce the frame for the hoops, gear box, and sway bar assy.

very nice. wow, right through the crossmember! I'm envious of your anti-sway bar. I was actually crawling around under mine last night trying to figure out where I could put one but my framerail is pretty much full forward of the axle. There's one very small possibility I could put it behind the axle and notch it slightly into the frame and right between the oil pan and transmission.

what was your overall impression of the quality of that swaybar? I just noticed last night that Summit Racing sells the Currie Enterprises anti-rock bars for a lot less than they advertise on www.currieenterprises.com

lookin good!

I can't speak to the Currie product because I haven't seen it in person. We talked with Currie when we were shopping. So far, we have been happy with what we got from Tony and TK1 racing. TK1 was the by far the most helpful and open when it came to talking about the specs and capabilities of their product and the price difference was marginal. The TK1 assy does require some fab work but the assy itself is pretty straight forward. My father and I are coming over for a few days during the weekend of the 25th. Let me know if you want a second opinion about anti-sway bar install options on your rig. I'm sure my father could offer some insights.

We got our 4 core Howe Radiator temporarily set today. We cut the original brackets off the core support and are getting ready to weld the V8 hangers. Had to do some significant mods to the mounts and the rubber insulators. Installed the fan on the front of the motor to confirm our clearances. Also set the old glass hood on just to make sure everything was cool.

Seems like Christmas every day...Ole' Brown comes down the driveway. Sometimes hard to estimate the 'bling' factor. Real fancy aluminum radiator today....King coilovers soon. Gonna have to put up a tree for those! Lights and all.;)

Back at it today after a few days away, felt good. Soon the King shocks will be here. Final setting of rear pinion angle tomorrow. Then out for truss over reinforcement. This is really fun.

Finished our Chevy Disk Brake Conversion on the D30 today and got it back underneath the Bronco. Still waiting on our replacement coilovers from King. We plan on pulling the rear D44 out tomorrow for trussing and rebuilding. Going to order aftermarket chromoly axles for the rear.

Lots of progress quickly. You should be driving it before fall. I got to ask..... Why are you guys not swapping out the D30 for at least a D44? Is it strickly a street rig?

It's never been strictly a street rig. I already had the 30 with a Detroit Truetrac and the correct gear ratio so I figure I'll run it until it fails.

Lot's of reasons to change to a heavier front axle. With today's specialty parts availabilities..nearly any combo can be realized. However the 30 is not bad when used with a bit of caution and driving skill. We're not building a rock crawler. There's a bit of nostalgia as well. One of the specific uses beyond living in a very rural and rugged area with very cold and snowy in the winter, is to volunteer in the desert races...no not as an entrant but as course support. I haven't weighed a Dana 60...heavy, maybe 200-250lbs add'l unsprung weight. Lot's of fun can be had in the desert in 2wd! Guess it's the Class8 racer coming out. Finally...the cost. So much going out so fast. If the 30 fails the choice to move to a 44 will be easier with all the outer parts fitting. Also staying with the Dana 44 rear I installed 34 years ago.;D We are having fun!
