Cool. Looking forward to the pics. Could you grab a measurement from bell face to tcase flange while you are under there? ;D

What year is your tranny and what did it come out of? I know there are some differences in length and shifter location. Trying to narrow down what fits the best and where the shifter comes out. Thanks.

I would like to know too.

I am running the M5R2 transmission adapted to a d20 and I have absolutely no problems with it. You can buy the ZF install kit from BC and everything, I repeat, everything will work just as it does with the ZF. They are physically the same size...length and width, primarily. I run a set of 35's and 3.50 gears. My next step is to bump up to a 4.56 or 4.88 for off-roading. On the street, its a good setup. Off road, not terrible, just needs a little help in the axle gears. For the price, you'll love it.

I switched from a 170 / 3 on the tree to a rebuild 5.0L / ZF / 205 and it has been like living in a new dimension. I guess it boils down to preference. I just liked all of the build info for the "heavy" ZF and did not look back. Had a line of a Mazda version, but am happy with my decision. Again, it's up what you want.

Either way, best of luck on your build! B2

ok revisiting this again. looks like the later R2's are shorter and have the shifter farther back like a 99 f150 if that sounds right... now those have a Borg Warner 4406 transfer case what are the chances that would fit between the frame rails?
