I'm out, Bronco got the Cruds!

I figured I'd drive the Bronco to work a couple of days this week stretch it's legs a little a get it loose for some play time. Drove it up to the gas station and treated it to 5 gals of the good stuff Weds night. You know, the 93 octane stuff that shows the picture of the clean valves......you know, spoil the old 289 a little. Gassed up the 4 door and hooked up to the trailer. Got up Thurs. and hopped in the '73, Had some fun rolling thru the gears...got up today did the some. I started to notice a little stale gas smell. Truck had not been sitting more than 2 weeks. Got off work ready to rush up to my kids school and hop on bus for a nice afternoon of ball......left work and the truck was running sweet, twisted it up a little, feeling good.....and then, it started acting like it was running out of fuel.............limped home where it didn't make it into the driveway. and found this. I wonder if that good gas tried to make the inside of my tank look like the picture of the valve? I'm outa gas myself and don't think I have a carb rebuild in me tonight....

I just got home a little while ago. I rode with BroncoLou today and got to drive his racer a bit. I even got to drive off some pretty steep drops and had the rear tires up in the air pretty high from what they said. It's a hell of a lot easier and more fun to do this in someone elses rig! ;D

I did not actually count, but I guess there were around 12-15 rigs with our group. Had a good time as always!

Maybe Ox can post some pics of the biggest carnage of the day. One of the guys slid into a tree and was pinned against it. When we were sinching him up it was still caught and actually pulled the entire passenger quarter panel 75% off of the rig! Henry was not thrilled, but was not too upset since his rig has seen some pretty drastic modifications and hard use over the years!

I only pulled the camera out a few times and Lou snapped one of me when I was behind the wheel. Gotta love all the coal road with no windhield! Here they are...

OK - here's some pics. PERFECT day! We had 11 or 12 Broncos show up including 2 FSBs. We started the day as 1 group with mtfit (Bill) leading. He took us to the southern part of the West property where we played a bit at the Quarry and then we all ran a portion of Snakebite. Most of us watched as a few tried Shoot the Moon (at the Quarry) but a patch of snow remaining at the base made it nearly impossible. We then went to the newest trail at Rausch - Cemetary - a pretty hard black trail.

At this point we split into harder and easier groups. I led the easier group over some still pretty challenging trails in the northern part of the West property. We hit trails 11, 14, 19, 23 and 10 - all greens or moderate blues. 14 had some really big mud holes on it from all the snow melt run off.

Everybody had a great time and very little carnage the whole day. Ohter that what Drew said, one of the FSBs thought he had his steering pump go out but it turned out he had smashed his steering stabalizer and it wasn't allowing him to turn. He took the stabilizer off and was fine.

Thanks for the pics!! Looks like you had a great day!! Wish I could have talked Pete into going. Guess I'll have too start looking for my own trail rig.

I had a great day. It was nice to have a low key day on the trail with some friends. Only downside was when Drew was drivind while we disconnected the swaybar, he kept scareing the BAJEEZAS out of me;D. I told him I liked it better when he borrowed the rig and I didn't see what he was doing.....;D

What a great day, glad we made a last minute decision to go. Getting up at 3:30am was worth it. Haven't dumped the pics from the camera yet. Thanks to Scoop and mtfit for trail guiding. No issues for us other than a flat tire on the trailer going home, and even that happened at a Wendy's parking lot so it was easy to change.

I had a great time. I was impressed buy my new trans. I have to pat myself on the back and say that I had the smallest tires and I think I was the only one that did not have a rear locker and I ran with everyone else and never got stuck. Only needed a winch once and that was to bend back the tie rod that I bent on a rock oops!

Judy, Gary, and Chris nice to see you again. Lou nice meeting you and thanks again for your spotting. And everyone else thanks for a great day. If you missed it it was a real good time. I forgot my camera today post some pics tomorrow.

EP - You have a very nice bronco and I was worried that you would tear it up and be hating life, but you (and the rig) did great. Thanks for making the trip to RC, look forward to seeing you at the Roundup.

Great day for just tooling around, PERFECT weather. We hit
the black section of snakebite first, unknowingly to the guys
that wanted to run only greens/blues. :p
