I can pour gas down my carb. And the engine wants to turn over and start. However afterwards when I try pumping the pedal I get nothin.

'I've put on two separate mechanical fuel pumps with the same result.

Could I please get some help or input here

Thanks,
Jeffrez

Well is there gas in the carb? Is the pump working? Take the fuel line loose at the carb. Crank the motor just a little to see if gas shoots out the line. if so your pump is working. No gas in carb? float or needle and seat problem. Easy fix there

No a whole lot to the system between the carb and fuel tank.
Good point Bax , check the needle and seat on the carb.
After that you have :

various sections of fuel line - could have a hole between the tank and pump.

Pump - I've had multiple new stuff that didn't work , never twice in a row on the same part though.

Filters - plugged?

Tank selector valve - If you have one, check that it is in the proper position.

Beyond that is the hard stuff to get to , the fuel pick ups in the tanks. Not hard to check those .... connect a line right to the pick up and try to draw fuel through it.
They could be rusted , plugged etc ...

Has it been sitting a while? Stuck float. Tap the side of the card with a screwdriver handle.

I know this post is a few days old and don't know if you found a fix. A friend had this same problem and ended up being the fuel pump eccentric came loose where it bolts to the front of the cam and it wasn't actuating the fuel pump.

If the fuel line between the tank and the pump has the tiniest of holes the pump won't pull the fuel. take a drinking straw and put a tiny pin hole in it. If you suck hard you can get a little drink and a whole lot of air. But suck lightly and all you get is air.

It could be something as simple as you got the pump lever on top of the eccentric in front of the cam instead of under it. OR a pin hole in a suction line. Or the filter is clogged. Or the needle and seat are stuck. Or the selector valve.

Just throwing a different pump again probably isn't going to fix it.
